Product Information

Name:
3-Fluoro-2-nitropyridine
Synonyms:
  • 2-Nitro-3-fluoropyridine
  • Pyridine, 3-fluoro-2-nitro-
Description:

3-Fluoro-2-nitropyridine is a fluorinated heterocycle that is activated by the presence of an electron withdrawing group, such as fluorine. This compound has been shown to inhibit pancreatic lipase and may be used to treat diabetes. 3-Fluoro-2-nitropyridine also reacts efficiently with alcohols in water at room temperature. The reaction product is a nitro compound that can be converted to an aliphatic amine by reaction with ammonia or amines. This conversion can take place through a method called synlett. The synlett method has been applied for the efficient preparation of various heterocycles and polyphosphoric acid advances have been made in this area of research.
