Formononetin is a natural compound that belongs to the group of p2-formononetin. It has been shown to have anti-cancer properties and a hypoglycemic effect in mice. Formononetin has been shown to suppress the growth of cancer tissues in vitro, as well as induce apoptosis in human osteosarcoma cells. The biological properties of formononetin are related to its ability to bind DNA and inhibit protein synthesis by inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division. Formononetin also induces apoptosis through activation of caspases, which are enzymes that break down proteins.
