Alpha-(4-fluorophenyl)-4-(5-fluoro-2-pyrimidinyl)-1-piperazine butanol (FPPBP) is a ligand that binds to the dopamine D2 receptor and has been shown to have therapeutic effects in Parkinson's disease. FPPBP is a synthetic compound that is being investigated as a potential treatment for this disease. It also has antipsychotic properties and can be used to treat symptoms of schizophrenia. Alpha-(4-fluorophenyl)-4-(5-fluoro-2-pyrimidinyl)-1-piperazine butanol has been shown to inhibit the activity of hydroxylase, which converts dopamine into norepinephrine, and thus may contribute to its antipsychotic properties. This drug also inhibits the enzyme responsible for converting dopamine into 3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (DOPA), thereby inhibiting the synthesis of dopamine in the brain cells.
