- 1-(4-Fluorophenyl)-2-phenylethanone
- Benzyl-4-fluorophenyl ketone
1-(4-fluorophenyl)-2-phenylethanone is a photolytic chemical that can be converted to a dione. The compound is synthesized by the filtration of 1,5-difluoro-2,4-diphenylpentane and cyclohexene in the presence of ammonium acetate and refluxing. This reaction yields high yield (94%) of 1-(4-fluorophenyl)-2-phenylethanone. The compound crystallizes with an acidic character (pK a = 2.6) and has an alkyloxy group at position 4 on the phenyl ring. Crystallographic analysis revealed that the molecule is an aryloxycycloisomer with three rings: two six membered rings and one five membered ring.
