Product Information
- 3-Formyl-4-hydroxybenzolcarbonitril
- Benzonitrile, 3-Formyl-4-Hydroxy-
3-Formyl-4-hydroxybenzonitrile (3F4HB) is a supramolecular triazine that can be synthesized by the reaction of hexamethylenetetramine and formyl chloride in the presence of sodium acetate. 3F4HB is a dispersive compound with an absorption maximum at 295 nm. It has been successfully used as an analytical reagent for the detection of anions, such as sulfate, nitrate, and phosphate, as well as heavy metals such as mercury and lead. The uptake of 3F4HB was found to depend on pH, temperature, and concentration. The uptake was very slow at pH values below 6 and increased with increasing temperature up to 50°C. Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) was used to extract 3F4HB from water samples.
