Description:Fmoc-Phe-Ser(tBu)-OH is a pentafluorophenyl ester of the amino acid phenylalanine. It is used in solid-phase peptide synthesis to link amines and carboxylic acids. Fmoc-Phe-Ser(tBu)-OH is used as an intermediate in the synthesis of peptides with a C-terminal amidated or methyl esters. The coupling reaction is catalyzed by 1-hydroxybenzotriazole (HOBT) and N,N'-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCC). HOBT reacts with the hydroxyl group on the β carbon of the ester to form an acetoxy group, which reacts with the amine on the opposite side of the peptide chain to form a new amide bond.
