4-Fluoro-3-nitrophenol is an oxidant that is used as a catalyst for the oxidation of nitrophenyl groups. It is extracted from acetonitrile, which is a recycled solvent. 4-Fluoro-3-nitrophenol undergoes coprecipitation with zinc oxide and copper oxide. This reaction process produces a reaction solution that contains 4-fluoro-3-nitrophenol. The functions of this chemical are to react with nitro groups and to catalyze the oxidation of the nitro group to produce an aromatic amine or hydroxylamine. This chemical can be used in organic solvents such as chloroform, benzene, ether, and dichloromethane. After filtration, the product can be collected by precipitation with zinc oxide and copper oxide.
