Fenpropathrin is a chemical pesticide that belongs to the class of pyrethroids. It is used to control insects such as mosquitoes, flies, ants, and cockroaches. The symptoms of fenpropathrin exposure include irritation of the skin and eyes, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, numbness at the site of contact, loss of appetite and weight loss. Fenpropathrin is also known to affect bacterial strain by inhibiting enzyme activities and reducing the activity of detoxification enzymes. Fenpropathrin has been shown to cause genotoxic activity in cardiac tissue in sublethal doses. This chemical can also be found in wastewater treatment systems where it causes an increase in surface methodology while decreasing p450 activity.
