Flubendazole is an antibiotic that is used to treat infections caused by roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms. It inhibits the metabolism of glucose by these parasites. Flubendazole has been shown to inhibit the growth of squamous carcinoma cells in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, it has been shown to inhibit the activity of enzymes involved in energy metabolism, such as dinucleotide phosphate (DNP) and glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD). The drug has also been shown to have a matrix effect on colloidal gold particles, which may be due to its ability to bind with proteins or nucleic acids. The analytical method used for this product is fluorescence spectroscopy.
