• Description: Fluocortolone 21-hexanoate is a corticosteroid that is used in the treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases and skin conditions. It has been shown to be effective when used as a monotherapy or in combination with other drugs, including antibiotics and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Fluocortolone 21-hexanoate is given orally or topically to treat skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis. This drug has been shown to be effective in treating autoimmune diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus and rheumatoid arthritis, but may also have some efficacy against t-cell lymphomas. It also has long-term efficacy in the treatment of chronic arthritis. Fluocortolone 21-hexanoate has not shown any drug interactions with other pharmaceuticals, although it may reduce the clearance of drugs metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes by inhibiting the activity of these enzymes.
