Forskolin is a diterpene compound from Asian medicinal plant Coleus forskohlii. It is an activator of adenylate cyclase, causing increase in cellular levels of cAMP. It has anti-neuroinflammatory activity since it reduced microglial activation and astrocyte activation in the brain of rodent models for cerebral amyloidosis. Forskolin also reduced amyloid beta plaques deposition in cortex and hippocampus.
