Fisetin is a natural compound that has inhibitory properties against various molecules, including pro-apoptotic protein. It is also a neuroprotective agent and anti-inflammatory agent. Fisetin has been shown to inhibit the production of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) in human serum, which may be due to its ability to downregulate the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Fisetin is used as an additive in some foods, such as ice cream and chewing gum, because it has an antioxidative effect on water vapor and can scavenge reactive oxygen species. This compound binds to DNA with high affinity and inhibits transcriptional activity by preventing the binding of RNA polymerase II. Fisetin also inhibits lipid peroxidation induced by hydrogen peroxide in vitro.
