Description:1-(2-Furanmethyl)-1H-pyrrole (1FP) is a carboxylate that has been shown to have anticancer effects. It has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells, as well as the growth of oral pathogens. In addition, 1FP has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties, which may be due to its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. 1FP is found in chicory and can be extracted using solid phase microextraction with ethyl formate or ether extracts. The compound is metabolized by fatty acid synthase enzymes in the liver into fatty acids such as octanoic acid and decanoic acid. These metabolites are excreted through bile and urine.
