For-Met-Ala-Ser-OH also inhibits mammalian cells by binding with metal ions such as zinc or nickel. The efficiency of For-Met-Ala-Ser OH varies depending on the type of metal ion used and it potentiates other antimicrobial agents when used in conjunction with them.
