Formyl-D-phenylglycine
Biosynth

    Product Information

    Name:Formyl-D-phenylglycine
    Synonyms:
    • For-D-Phg-OH
    Brand:Biosynth
Description:Formyl-D-phenylglycine is a biotransformation product of formaldehyde and phenylalanine. It has been shown to be an efficient, cross-linked enzyme with optimal catalytic activity. Sphingomonas bacteria are the main producers of this compound. Formyl-D-phenylglycine is produced by asymmetric cross-linking of two enzymes, namely formaldehyde hydrolase and amino acid decarboxylase. The kinetic parameters for this reaction were optimized in order to increase the efficiency of the reaction. Formaldehyde hydrolase catalyzes the conversion of formaldehyde, which is toxic at high concentrations, into formate and hydrogen peroxide. Amino acid decarboxylase converts phenylalanine into formate and acetoacetic acid. The cross-linked enzymes have been shown to be more stable than single enzymes, leading to increased rates of reaction for formyl-D-phenylglycine production.
