It is an agonist of the dopaminergic receptor and has been shown to reverse insulin resistance in animal models. It also has affinity for fatty acid metabolism, nervous system, and glucagon-like peptide receptors. Fmoc-D-Lys(ivDde)-OH is a heterocycloalkyl amino acid that contains a nitrogen atom at position 1 and a fatty acid at position 2. The isopropyl group at position 3 prevents this amino acid from being absorbed orally and must be given intravenously or intramuscularly.
