6-Fluoro (1H)indazole is a prodrug that is metabolized in vivo to the active form, 6-fluoro (1H)indazol. 6-Fluoro (1H)indazole has dose-dependent activity and can be used as an oral therapy for mineralocorticoid receptor activation. The drug binds to the active site of the ns5b polymerase and inhibits viral replication. It has been shown to be effective against HIV-1, HCV, influenza A virus, and herpes simplex virus type 2. 6-Fluoro (1H)indazole is an analog of fludrocortisone that can be used in place of this hormone in patients with adrenal insufficiency due to its ability to bind to the mineralocorticoid receptor.
