N-(2-Fluorophenyl)thiourea is a ligand that interacts with the γ-aminobutyric acid receptor protein. It is synthesized by reacting an amine with thiourea in the presence of acetic acid. The N-(2-Fluorophenyl)thiourea was found to be toxic to rats and mice, but not rabbits or dogs. The toxicity may be due to its ability to form hydrogen bonds with other molecules.
