Description:

2-Fluoro-2-methyl-1-propanol is a compound that can be accessed from hydrogen fluoride. It has been used as an oxime to treat the Covid-19 pandemic. 2-Fluoro-2-methyl-1-propanol has shown activity against influenza A virus and is believed to work by reacting with the fluoroquinolone ribonucleotide at the N7 position of the viral RNA polymerase, thereby inhibiting replication. Other possible mechanisms include inhibition of protein synthesis, inhibition of ion channels, or disruption of membrane integrity. The mechanism of action for this drug is unknown and may involve more than one cellular target.
