Product Information

Name:
3-Fluorophenylacetone
Controlled Product
Synonyms:
  • 1-(3-Fluorophenyl)Propan-2-One
Description:

3-Fluorophenylacetone is an organic compound that is a precursor to many other compounds. It can be used for the synthesis of chiral amines, pharmaceuticals, and flavors. The reductive amination reaction involves the conversion of 3-fluorophenylacetone to an alpha-amino acid with ammonia in the presence of a reducing agent such as sodium borohydride or lithium aluminum hydride, followed by a second reaction with an appropriate carboxylic acid. 3-Fluorophenylacetone can also be used for the synthesis of phenylacetic acid and phenylpropionic acid using microorganisms such as Brevibacterium sp., Epidermidis sp., or Achromobacter sp.
