Description:
Fraxidin is a coumarin derivative that has been used as an antidiabetic agent in China. It has been shown to have glucose-lowering effects by inhibiting the activity of gluconeogenic enzymes, such as glycogen phosphorylase and fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase. Fraxidin also inhibits hepatic steatosis by regulating the expression of genes involved in lipid metabolism. This compound may also have potential for treating autoimmune diseases.
