3-Fluoro-4-methylbenzoic acid methyl ester is a benzoate that can be converted to 3-fluoro-4-methylbenzoic acid (3FMB) by decarboxylation. 3FMB can be used in the synthesis of phenylacetic acid and other aromatic compounds.
