Description

Flavanone hydrazone (FH) is a natural compound found in plants. FH has been shown to inhibit the replication of viruses such as leukoplakia, Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus, and papilloma virus. FH also inhibits the expression of both human papilloma virus (HPV) and picornavirus. FH binds to flavin mononucleotide (FMN) and alters its conformation, which leads to inhibition of the protein FOXO1. This results in decreased levels of viral proteins that are necessary for viral replication.
