Product Information
Fibrinopeptide B is a precursor to the fibrinogen molecule and it exists in human serum at a concentration of about 0.5% of the total protein. Fibrinogen plays an important role in blood clotting, wound healing, and atherosclerosis. Fibrinopeptide B binds to calcium ions and also has receptor-activating activity for thrombin. This protein has been shown to be a useful biomarker for disease activity in atherosclerotic lesions because it is found in higher concentrations than other proteins such as fibrinogen or albumin.
