Product Information

Name:
Forsythoside I
Description:

Forsythia suspensa is a traditional Chinese herb that is used to treat chronic coughs, bronchitis, and asthma. The chemical structure of forsythoside I is an ester hydrochloride. Forsythoside I is activated by hepatic enzymes in the human liver to form forsythia acid (FA). FA binds to cyclase, which inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandin E2. Forsythia suspensa also has anti-inflammatory properties due to its inhibition of pro-inflammatory factors such as nω-nitro-l-arginine methyl ester (LNMA) and prostaglandin E2. The chemical structure of forsythoside I was determined using preparative high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with ultraviolet detection and magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS). The molecular weight of this compound was determined using proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (H NMR).
