Product Information
2-Fluoro-4-hydroxycinnamic acid is a substrate analogues for cinnamate 4-hydroxylase, a monooxygenase that hydroxylates the aromatic ring of 3-phenylpropanoic acid. 2-Fluoro-4-hydroxycinnamic acid is metabolized to caffeic acid, which is also a substrate analogue for this enzyme. The product of this reaction can be further metabolized to ferulic acid and other phenolic compounds in the presence of other enzymes. 2-Fluoro-4-hydroxycinnamic acid has been used as an inhibitor of cinnamate 4-hydroxylase in kinetic studies. It has also been shown to inhibit the activity of cinnamic acid hydroxylases, which are involved in the biosynthesis of lignin.
