4-Fluoro-4'-hydroxybenzophenone is a polycyclic aromatic compound that has been shown to bind to the human estrogen receptor (ERα). It also binds to the estrogen receptor α, which is an important regulator of gene transcription. 4-Fluoro-4'-hydroxybenzophenone has been used as a model for studying other polycyclic aromatic compounds, such as phenoxy and sulfoxide. The diffraction of this molecule was analyzed using X-ray crystallography and fiber diffraction methods. This molecule reacts with solvents at room temperature for about two hours. Assays are used to determine the concentration of 4-fluoro-4'-hydroxybenzophenone in various samples by measuring its fluorescence emission intensity.
