2-[(4-Fluorophenyl)Amino]-2-Oxo-Acetic Acid Ethyl Ester is a herbicide that belongs to the group of phenoxyacetic acid derivatives. It is used for the control of weeds in cereal fields and other crop plants, such as rice and turf grasses. 2-[(4-Fluorophenyl)Amino]-2-Oxo-Acetic Acid Ethyl Ester inhibits plant growth by inhibiting protein synthesis and cell division. It has been shown to be effective against triticum aestivum (wheat) at concentrations of 0.5 ppm, but not against triticum aestivum l. (red wheat). This compound can be detected in the soil after application, but is not phytotoxic to triticum aestivum l., which may be due to its lack of activity against seeding or deployment stages of growth.
