(5Z,7E,9S,11Z,14Z)-20-Fluoro-9-Hydroxyicosa-5,7,11,14-Tetraenoic Acid is a dialdehyde that is synthesized from arachidonic acid by oxidation. It has been shown to be an efficient and stereoselective oxidant for the transformation of racemic mixtures of chiral chlorides and esters. The (5Z,7E,9S,11Z,14Z)-20-Fluoro-9-hydroxyicosa-5,7,11,14 tetraenoic acid can also be used as an enantiomerically pure oxidant in the synthesis of d-mannitol.
