Product Information
Valeriandoid B is a natural product that has been shown to have cytotoxic properties against colon cancer cells. It has been isolated from the roots of Valeriana officinalis and can be found in valepotriates. Valeriandoid B has been shown to have neuroprotective effects in animal models, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the production of reactive oxygen species. This compound also inhibits the proliferation of human hepatoma cells in culture. Valeriandoid B was synthesized from an extract of Valeriana officinalis roots and purified by column chromatography. The structure was confirmed by two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy and chemical analysis with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.
