Description

Glycitein is a natural compound that belongs to the group of isoflavones. It is found in soybeans, and has been shown to have anti-cancer properties. Glycitein prevents the spread of cancer cells by binding to the bcl-2 protein, which blocks its activity. Glycitein also has been shown to inhibit the production of inflammatory cytokines in hl-60 cells. Furthermore, this compound inhibits matrix metalloproteinase activity, which may be beneficial for bowel disease patients. The effects of glycitein on 3T3-L1 preadipocytes were investigated using an analytical method that measures matrix effect and glycitein's ability to regulate gene expression. Glycitein was observed to induce a metabolic response in 3T3-L1 preadipocytes by inhibiting lipid accumulation and increasing lipolysis.
