Description:Z-Glu-Tyr-OH is a disulfide bond with a cavity. It is soluble in acidic solutions and has a cationic surface. Z-Glu-Tyr-OH is an enzyme inhibitor that blocks the activity of α subunit of protein kinase C, which is involved in intracellular signal transduction pathways. The inhibition of this enzyme may lead to apoptosis, or programmed cell death. Z-Glu-Tyr-OH also inhibits fatty acid synthesis by blocking the activity of hydroxylase enzymes, such as 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase and 17α-hydroxylase. This compound has been shown to inhibit indole-3-propionic acid production by inhibiting the kinetic and sephadex g-100 activities of the enzyme indoleamine 2,3 dioxygenase.
