• Description: Glycoursodeoxycholic acid (GUDCA) is a bile acid that is synthesized from glycine and ursodeoxycholic acid. It has been shown to have an antioxidant effect in a model system of oxidative injury. GUDCA has also been found to attenuate the effects of bile acid on bowel disease, as well as metabolic disorders such as energy metabolism and bile acid homeostasis. GUDCA may be used as a therapeutic treatment for metabolic disorders, including obesity and diabetes. GUDCA may also be effective in treating neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.
