Description:(S)-Glycerol 1-benzyl ether is a chiral, synthesised antidepressant drug that has shown to be effective in the treatment of depression. It binds to α-adrenergic receptors and blocks the binding of norepinephrine and epinephrine, preventing the production of stress hormones. (S)-Glycerol 1-benzyl ether is also used as a reagent for the synthesis of doxazosin and d-mannitol.
