Product Information
Gibberellic acid methyl ester is a gibberellin that can be synthetically produced from the reaction of triticum aestivum and chloroform. Gibberellic acid methyl ester is an alkylmagnesium compound with a hydroxyl group at the alpha carbon. It is an intermediate in the synthesis of gibberellins, which are plant hormones that regulate cell elongation, germination, and flowering. Gibberellic acid methyl ester has been shown to inhibit protein synthesis in mammalian cells by binding to protein targets. The binding of gibberellic acid methyl ester to these targets leads to autophosphorylation and thus activation of protein kinase C (PKC). PKC then phosphorylates other proteins involved in cell division, leading to inhibition of cell division. This inhibition results in morphological changes such as stunting and differentiation.
