Description:Gramine is a plant-derived fatty acid that has been shown to have biological properties. The molecule has been found to act as an agonist of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and prostate cancer cells, leading to the induction of apoptosis. Gramine also inhibits detoxification enzymes such as cytochrome P450, glutathione S-transferase, and UDP-glucuronosyltransferase. This inhibition may be due to the ability of gramine to bind to these enzymes through electrochemical impedance spectroscopy or titration calorimetry. Gramine has been shown to have potent anti-inflammatory effects in vitro and in vivo, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
