Description:

H-Gln-OtBu.HCl is a synthetic radionuclide that is not found in nature. It has been synthesised to be used in diagnostic imaging, as well as in cancer research. The compound has been shown to have a high affinity for chloride ions and a low affinity for water molecules. This allows it to be used as a contrast agent in x-ray computed tomography (CT) of the human body. The molecule can also be used to study the uptake of H-Gln-OtBu.HCl by tumour cells, which are more acidic than normal cells due to their higher glycolytic rate, and the enhancement of its signal by amide bonds on proteins.
