Description:Glochidiol is a triterpenoid saponin that has potent antitumor activity against skin tumors. It induces apoptosis and inhibits tumor growth in xenograft tumor models. Glochidiol has been shown to inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells by blocking the cell cycle in the G2/M phase, which is associated with an increase in p53 protein levels. Glochidiol also targets multiple apoptosis pathways, including activation of caspases 3, 7, and 9. Glochidiol's anticancer activity is due to its ability to inhibit the activity of tyrosine kinase receptors and inhibit tumor angiogenesis.
