Griffipavixanthone binds to biomimetic human annexin V and inhibits the binding of phosphatidylserine to annexin V, which prevents the formation of a complex with phosphatidylserine that triggers the activation of caspase-3. Griffipavixanthone also inhibits endothelial cell proliferation by inhibiting vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signaling.
