Product Information
- 1,3,7-Trimethoxyxanthone
Gentisethin trimethylether (GTE) is a mutagenic compound that is synthesised from gentisic acid. GTE has tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) functionalities, which are potent inhibitors of the synthesis of beta-glucosidase and xanthone. GTE also has potent inhibitory effects on the activity of ICAM-1, an adhesion molecule that plays a role in leukocyte migration. GTE has been shown to be mutagenic in vivo, with potent genotoxic effects, such as DNA damage and chromosomal aberrations. It has also been shown to have immunomodulatory properties and can stimulate the production of tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNFA).
