7-Geranyloxycoumarin is a coumarin derivative that inhibits the activity of cyclases, which are enzymes that catalyze the conversion of various substrates to cyclic compounds. It has been shown to inhibit the activity of auraptene synthase, an enzyme responsible for the synthesis of a natural compound that can cause bowel disease. 7-Geranyloxycoumarin also inhibits pro-apoptotic protein expression and has been shown to induce synchronous fluorescence in Hl-60 cells. This drug has been used as a model system for studying cyclase inhibitors and their use in cancer treatment.
