Gypsogenin is a fatty acid that belongs to the group of hydroxylated compounds. It is structurally related to cisplatin, which is used as an anticancer drug. Gypsogenin has been shown to have a protective effect against cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity in rats. This compound also inhibits the proliferation of HL-60 cells and induces apoptosis in these cells, suggesting that it may be useful for cancer treatment. Gypsogenin has also been shown to have an antibody response and mitotic checkpoint inhibitory effects in mice. Gypsogenin has been found to have high levels of natural compounds such as chlorogenic acids and phenolic derivatives.
