Description:Gomisin O is a drug that inhibits the activity of an enzyme called fatty acid synthase (FAS), which is involved in the production of fatty acids. It has been shown to be effective in treating inflammatory skin diseases, such as psoriasis and eczema, cancer and other conditions. Gomisin O may also have anti-inflammatory effects because it prevents the release of arachidonic acid from membrane phospholipids by inhibiting the activity of phospholipase A2. The mechanism of action of gomisin O is unknown but it may inhibit the synthesis or metabolism of cholesterol or bile acids. Gomisin O may also reduce blood pressure by reducing angiotensin II-induced vasoconstriction, which could be related to its effect on angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) activities.
