This compound is prepared in high yields by the reaction of cyclohexanone with bromine and ethyl nitrite. 2-Bromo-1-cycloheptylethan-1-one has been used as a bronchodilator for chronic bronchitis and asthma, as well as for nitrobenzene reduction to aniline.
