25-O-Methylalisol A is a small molecule that has been shown to have anti-viral activity in the context of chronic kidney disease. This compound inhibits angiotensin production and activity. It also has a role in the Wnt/β-catenin pathway, which is involved in cell growth and development. 25-O-Methylalisol A has been shown to inhibit toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) signaling, thereby suppressing inflammatory responses. Using techniques such as transcriptomic analysis and immunofluorescence, it was found that 25-O-Methylalisol A can reduce the expression of genes related to kidney diseases such as growth factor β1 and interleukin 1β. The compound has been isolated from plants, but the exact mechanism of action is not yet known.
