Description:
3-Hexyn-2,5-diol is a tert butyl acetal of hexyne. It can be used as a synthon for the preparation of other compounds with similar structures. 3-Hexyn-2,5-diol has been used in the preparation of analogs that are more reactive and easier to handle than the original compound. These analogs have also been shown to catalyze oxidation reactions in organic solvents and to produce polymers with improved morphology.
