Description:

3-Hexadecylthiophene is a modulating molecule that can form supramolecular complexes. It has been shown to be an efficient supramolecular photoactive material for the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and singlet molecular oxygen (1O2) in photophysical systems. 3-Hexadecylthiophene has also been used as a polymer concentration modifier for polymers such as polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, and poly(vinyl chloride). The optical properties of 3-hexadecylthiophene are thermally stable and it has a high thermal stability. 3-Hexadecylthiophene is soluble in organic solvents and can be synthesized from linolenic acid by thermal ring opening polymerization.
