Description:
2-Hydroxybiphenyl sodium salt tetrahydrate is an inorganic, colorimetric mediator that is used for the determination of symbiotic N 2 fixation. It is a salt of 2-hydroxybiphenyl and sodium hydroxide. The color change from yellow to violet is indicative of the presence of nitrogenase activity. This mediator can be used to measure the efficiency of immobilized N 2 -fixing bacteria on various surfaces or to determine the uptake of nutrients by bacteria.
