Hirsutine is a natural product derived from the plant Hirsuta chinensis. It has a synergistic effect with other drugs, such as cytosolic Ca2+ and her2+ breast cancer. Hirsutine is an inhibitor of mitochondrial membrane potential and receptor activity, which inhibits the production of cytosolic Ca2+, leading to neuronal death. This compound also inhibits polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification in experimental models and has been shown to have drug interactions with other compounds. It has not been found to be toxic in mice at doses up to 500 mg/kg body weight.
