Product Information

Name:
7-Hydroxybenzofuran
Synonyms:
  • 1-Benzofuran-7-Ol
  • 7-Benzofuranol
Description:

7-Hydroxybenzofuran is an organic solvent that is used as a reagent in the synthesis of carbofuran, a pesticide. 7-Hydroxydihydrobenzofuran is also used as a precursor to other organic compounds such as diazonium salts, hydrogen bonds, and acid catalysts. It has low energy with a chloride ion, which forms a hydrogen bond with the functional groups on the organic molecule. The acid catalyst then converts it into an acidic solution. This process can be carried out at room temperature or heated to higher temperatures. When heated, thermally activated reactions take place and isobutyraldehyde becomes dehydrated to form magnesium oxide and aluminium oxide.
